Barefoot Barrydale - Endurance Treeless Saddle for Long Distance Riding
The Barrydale is designed for endurance and long trail rides where rider stability and horse comfort are essential. The saddle features anatomically shaped knee rolls integrated into the detachable seat, helping frame the rider for a deep and secure seat both on the trail and in the arena. Particularly popular with endurance riders, the Barrydale keeps the horses back free from pressure while allowing the rider to stay balanced during strenuous uphill and downhill terrain.
The flexible V-shaped girthing system positions the saddle slightly forward compared to traditional saddles, placing the rider over the horse's natural center of gravity. This helps the horse balance the rider's weight more efficiently and move freely during long rides.

Rider Position Guide
Each Barefoot saddle places the rider slightly differently. With treeless saddles, the rider's balance plays an important role because there is no rigid tree positioning the seat automatically. Riders coming from traditional treed saddles may notice that a treeless saddle encourages a more balanced and independent seat. It can take a short adjustment period while your body adapts to the closer contact and greater freedom of movement.
- Barrydale - The Barrydale offers the most secure and more closed position of these three models. The deeper seat and large knee rolls help stabilize the rider's leg, which many Dressage and endurance riders appreciate during long hours in the saddle or when riding varied terrain such as hills and uneven trails.
- Cheyenne - The Cheyenne has a more open seat and relaxed leg position. Riders who prefer freedom of movement often enjoy it for trail riding and leisure riding. Because the seat is more open, the rider relies more on their own balance.
- Tahoe (Cherokee internationally) -The Tahoe sits between the Cheyenne and Barrydale. The seat is moderately deep and offers additional support while still allowing a relaxed riding position suitable for many trail riders.
As with all treeless saddles, a balanced seat and proper saddle pad system are important for the comfort of both horse and rider. Many riders find that after a short adjustment period, the closer contact provided by a treeless saddle improves their feel for the horses movement.
Flexible, V-Shaped girthing system. The saddle is also suitable for difficult girthing positions. It lies a little further forward than conventional saddles, therefore positions the rider directly above the horse's center of gravity. Your horse will find it easier to balance your weight.
With this saddle you will feel your horse's muscles work and the movement of its back, the basic requirements for more advanced riding.
9D-Rings to secure saddle pad or luggage. As with all Barefoot, the pommel insert (medium size) can be exchanged.

Saddle Trial Program You can try the saddle for one week (7 days) after receiving the saddle to decide if its a good fit for you and your horse. Keep it clean, keep the tags. Ride in a controlled area, do not go on a trail ride. If you mark it up, scratch it, or damage it, you cannot return it. You cannot return a used saddle pad or girth/cinch. Use your own saddle pad to try the saddle if possible. If after one week you decide to return the saddle, you will be charged a $150 restocking fee and you pay to ship the saddle back to us. If you would like to try a saddle for a week, Message us sales@barefootsaddlesusa.com
All Barefoot brand treeless saddles come with a saddle system called Vertebrae Protection System (VPS), which is a patented panel system designed to protect the spine of the horse.
The Barefoot Treeless saddles come with a medium size fiberglass insert. You can purchase additional narrow, wide, extra wide, or soft pommel inserts as needed for your horse's conformation. Click here for more information on the Barefoot Pommel Inserts, and a printable version of the pommel sizing template.
