Barefoot Madrid Treeless Saddles

The Barefoot Madrid Treeless Saddles were designed by Barefoot of Germany with the classical traditional equitation school in mind. Peruvians, Pasos, and Andalusians will look gorgeous on the trail or in the arena in this luxurious suede seat and flaps in dark brown. Missouri Fox Trotters, Tennessee Walkers and other gaited horse owners will also appreciate the comfortable ride. The Madrid is also very comfortable and secure for the rider with suede on the seat and flap for extra grip. The seat is a bit deeper and the cantle is a bit higher (4.5") than other Barefoot Saddles. Perfect for Working Equitation competitions.

The Barefoot Madrid Treeless Saddle sells with the wide pommel insert to provide wither clearance. There are medium, narrow and extra wide pommels if needed that you can purchase separately. The square skirt design will help stabilize the saddle on round backs. The English style billets are in an adjustable Y shape and the second billet slides to adjust the pressure and weight of the saddle. Choose any style dressage girth to go with it.

Riding a gaited horse in a Barefoot treeless saddle will allow the horse to move freely, without restricting the shoulder, which is so important for gaited horses.

The Barefoot Madrid has D rings for a breastplate, a rectangular ring for a crupper and two extra rings on either side of the cantle to attach saddle bags, water bottles and more.

"Wonderful Saddle! I have four Barefoot treeless saddles. I have Peruvian Horses, so when I saw they offer a treeless Spanish saddle, I bought one for my gelding. I was so pleasantly surprised at the comfort for both me and my boy, I bought a second one for my mare! I'm using them both for parades and trail riding. The suede seat has grip, and can be replaced if it wears out; the stirrups/leathers can be positioned where you want them. Hope Barefoot Saddles USA keeps selling this saddle; it's well made. Love it!!!" - Diana Reed

Saddle Trial Program

You can try the saddle for one week (7 days) after receiving the saddle to decide if its a good fit for you and your horse. Keep it clean, keep the tags. Ride in a controlled area, do not go on a trail ride. If you mark it up, scratch it, or damage it, you cannot return it. You cannot return a used saddle pad or girth/cinch. Use your own saddle pad to try the saddle if possible. If after one week you decide to return the saddle, you will be charged a $100 restocking fee and you pay to ship the saddle back to us. If you would like to try a saddle for a week, send us an email at [email protected]

5 of 5 A MUST HAVE January 10, 2022
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from CA United States
We had a hard-to-fit Welsh+Arabian no-withers-chubby-13.3h-pony. Several new saddles with exchanging gullet after gullet.
Finally we got the Madrid, the Softwalk Treeless Fursaddle, and the Wellington Dressage Saddle.
We love all of them, and so does the pony. It's such a relief to get on knowing there is no pinching.

The Madrid Treeless was an initial favorite, and we'll continue using that, just not yet out on the trails as we feel it does not yet have as secure a fit as the Soft Walk and the Wellington. It does give a sense of sitting more broadly, not sure if this is a general thing or just me.

Overall, I can't say enough good things about Barefoot Saddles:

# Their constant adaptability: What horse stays the same?

# Light-weight

# Increased feel (for both horse and rider), ultimately, correct riding is most important for keeping a horse sound in spite of being ridden

# Good quality

# Relatively affordable

5 of 5 Stunning Design, Outstanding Saddle April 7, 2021
Reviewer: Ashley Avis Winters from Marina Del Rey, CA United States
I couldn't be more thrilled with the Madrid treeless saddle, or the personal nature of the service from Barefoot.

I was a hunter/jumper in my youth, and now in my mid-thirties I am just getting back in the saddle -- very literally.  My horse, an adopted Lusitano, came to us a little overweight and a little spooky.  Neither of my traditional saddles fit him.

I was looking at other treeless designs, and spent a good half hour with a sales rep from Barefoot live on Facebook.  I told her my background and about my horse, and she recommended the one saddle I didn't see -- the Madrid.  She suggested it for the nature of not only my horse's breed but his fluctuating size and my quest to be comfortable riding again.

Not only is the saddle STUNNING, I mean truly gorgeous -- the quality is A+ and the leather supple.  My horse loves the saddle and the pad for his back.  We will be sending photos from the trails!

5 of 5 Madrid - great saddle! June 14, 2019
Reviewer: Lisa Farmer from Troutville, VA United States
I bought this after going through several trees saddles.  My horse always ended up pinning his ears, trying to bite the saddle, or just not wanting to go forward at all, even when lunging.  I almost just gave up riding him but decided to try this saddle.  He never reacted from the moment I put it on him.  He goes forward willingly and I like the close contact between my leg and his side.   It’s been two weeks now, and so far, so very good.  The quality of this saddle is very good - first rate materials and craftsmanship, and Sarah at ART didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need.  I highly recommend this saddle, especially for classical dressage and trail riding.  Excellent spinal clearance and the adjustable stirrup bars make this easy to customize.  Just can’t say enough positive things about it!
