Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pads

The Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pads incorporate a special section underneath for optional foam inserts. This section is attached with Velcro® and the pad is provided with 2 different sets of inserts. One is dense foam and the other is soft PU foam. This pad offers great Physio properties and a saddle-less ride that won't harm your horse. Inserting the foam inserts give additional protection to your horse's back and ensures clearance from the spine. Specifically recommended for very slender riders and heavy riders. Also for horses that have visible spinal processes and badly muscled backs. Suitable also for older horses.

Most bareback pads or riding cushions can be bad for a horse, causing discomfort. Usually caused by their girths running directly across the back, which distributes all pressure into one or possibly two spinous processes. This Barefoot Physio Ride-On Pad has V-girthing with fleece-lined Billet Patches which works to distribute pressure along the entire pad. Also, there are no stirrup attachments, as pressure points would occur when standing in stirrups.

The Ride-On pad's high density foam padding in alternate thicknesses is extremely stable on your horse's back. The properties of the Sympanova material on the pad's underside makes the pad non-slip, while the upper side is made of microfiber. The upper ensures good grip for riders, even at speed. The horse-friendly girthing has patches with 100% sheep fleece on the underside. This stabilizes the girthing, and doesn't irritate your horse's coat along the side. The Bareback Pad can be used in combination with the Barefoot Sheepskin Dressage Girth or any other dressage style girth.

The design of the pad incorporates a sturdy nylon grab handle, and D-rings for attaching bags.

Note: This Bareback Pad DOES NOT include a girth. This is so you can choose the correct size for your horse.

Topline 19 1/2"
Flap Length - 18 1/2"

To Clean:
Clean the pad with a damp cloth or a soft brush.

5 of 5 Better than any saddle! December 2, 2019
Reviewer: Patricia Kowalski King from Muncie, IN United States
I own a Standardbred who is nearly impossible to fit for a saddle - huge, long withers, some atrophy behind the shoulders, and a short, straight back. And a prominent spine even when he is in good flesh. I prefer riding bareback but it was uncomfortable for both of us. The first ride on my Physio was amazing! I could not get over how comfortable & secure I felt, and my horse carried himself in a way I'd not experienced before- long, low, and so relaxed. Every ride since has been better. I did read reviews and used a 22" girth, which was perfect. I also use an all-purpose English pad under my Physio, as my horse is sensitive to the grippy material. Thank you for making such a great product!

3 of 5 Love Hate relationship/ an expensive purchase March 31, 2019
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from United States
I love the pad in general. If I had it to do over I would not get the physio inserts.  The inserts did not come installed in the ‘pockets’ . I thought I could remove the pockets and take it for a quick ride without...well there are large Velcro squares that hold the pockets to the underside of the pad. So you can not ride the pad without the pockets unless you put another saddle pad under the bareback pad and all of a sudden this bareback pad is almost as much trouble as a real saddle.  Also I am trying to figure out if I can convert the English rigging to a Dee ring for Western type rigging. The two English billets with the connector pad that slides off the billets is a pain for this traditional Western rider.  Finding an English girth that is short enough to allow the pad to fit my smaller horses has not been easy.  The pad is super pricey and not 100% what I had hoped for.

5 of 5 Great for my 20-year-old draft cross July 2, 2018
Reviewer: Catherine Hiller from Rochester, NY United States
My 17-hand horse has never had much of a topline - and he wasn't ridden for about a year and a half before I got him so the muscles were further atrophied.  He has a very good, heavy dressage saddle with a Mattes shimmed pad but I wanted to ride him bareback.  His back is so bony riding without a pad is out of the question.  The Physio Ride-On Bareback Pad is perfect for us.  The extra shimming makes my horse's back super comfortable for me and I'm sure for him.  I love the non-slip underside.  The only drawbacks: with the v-girthing side panels attached my dressage girth is way too long for the pad and I had to buy a shorter girth for it.; and though the design and construction are high quality I would have preferred more sturdy materials like real suede and leather billets.  Other than that, I am extremely pleased with the product and price.

4 of 5 great saddle but difficult inserting the pads May 30, 2018
Reviewer: JEAN LARSON from Princeton, MN United States
I love this saddle!  I would have given five stars if the pads were inserted prior to arrival - instead, it took me quite some time to finally get them inserted and fit properly.
