Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pads

The Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pads incorporate a special section underneath for optional foam shim inserts. This section is attached with Velcro® and the pad is provided with 2 different sets of shims. One is rubber foam and the other is soft PU foam. This pad offers great Physio properties and a saddle-less ride that won't harm your horse. Inserting the shims give additional protection to your horse's back and ensures clearance from the spine. Specifically recommended for very slender riders and heavy riders. Also for horses that have visible spinal processes and badly muscled backs. Suitable also for older horses.

Most bareback pads or riding cushions can be bad for a horse, causing discomfort. Usually caused by their girths running directly across the back, which distributes all pressure into one or possibly two spinous processes. This Barefoot Physio Ride-On Pad has V-girthing which works to distribute pressure along the entire pad. Also, there are no stirrup attachments, as pressure points would occur when standing in stirrups.

The Ride-On pad's high density foam padding in alternate thicknesses is extremely stable on your horse's back. The properties of the Sympanova material on the pad's underside makes the pad non-slip, while the upper side is made of microfiber. The upper ensures good grip for riders, even at speed. The horse-friendly girthing has patches with 100% sheep fleece on the underside. This stabilizes the girthing, and doesn't irritate your horse's coat along the side. The pad can be used in combination with the Barefoot sheepskin girth (recommended).

The design of the pad incorporates a sturdy nylon grab handle, and D-rings for attaching bags.

great saddle but difficult inserting the pads May 30, 2018

I love this saddle!  I would have given five stars if the pads were inserted prior to arrival - instead, it took me quite some time to finally get them inserted and fit properly.

Sitting on a cloud December 28, 2017

Everyone who's sat in it say its the comfiest thing ever! Definitely better than any saddle I've owned.
Somehow the ride-on leaves tons of spine clearance. My horse is an elder thoroughbred with huge withers and it just brushes his back with the medium-thickness pads inserted, but sweat marks afterwards make it seem like its not a problem, and he certainly doesn't act like it is.
I would 100% recommend this pad.
Its a touch large, though no bigger than any other pad Ive seen really, but I do have a small Arabian (14h) that it just swallows up. My huge thoroughbred uses a 56" girth and I use a 22" dressage girth with this pad but its still high enough that I don't (can't) use those extra inserts between the girth and saddle. Still, it looks good on him. Doesn't slip.
I'm not sure if I would suggest getting the physio over the regular ride-on, since even without the extra padding it seems perfect, but I don't regret spending the little extra in the slightest! Best bareback pad ever.

I've owned a barefoot Cheyenne since before the VPS. Then we got a new Cheyenne with the VPS. Great concept! So when I saw this bareback pad I knew it would be perfect, and it is! I hack with or even work with it. Its marvelous!!! It's a bit pricey but oh so worth the money!!

The only thing we ride in March 30, 2017
Reviewer: Kaleigh B. from Western NC
I was fortunate enough to receive one of these as a gift just over a year ago. I have a 21 year old Spotted Saddle Horse mare who is petite and round at the same time and thus, I have a hard time fitting her. We love this pad!!! The only thing I have trouble with is the billet pads are constantly trying to slip off when I'm carrying it around. I also use a quilted English pad underneath it as I've found that the under-portion (the detachable Physio part) leaves significant "saddle" marks along the length of her spine. I use it in conjunction with a leather breeching and fleece breast collar (awesome D-rings) and we hit the mountain trails! I'm hoping to get the sheepswool seat saver and a nice barefoot saddle pad soon, too :)
