The most sensitive area behind the horse's ear, the atlas is where the nuchal ligament attaches which is responsible for the whole chain of movements of the back. Additionally, here the head joins with the cervical spine, with the foramen magnum connecting the brain with the medulla. Too much pressure here can cause an inflammation of the nuchal ligament's onset, causing the horse to be in tremendous pain.
The Barefoot Bridle Wellington Contour is formed in such a way, that it spares the atlas, avoiding the application of any pressure. The browband and the noseband are shaped anatomically as well: The noseband is shaped upwards along the bridge of nose so breathing is not restricted.
2-in-1: The bridle can be used with or without a bit. The cheek piece can easily be removed or attached thanks to a Chicago-screw.

The Barefoot Bridle Wellington Contour offers a smart solution: its flexible design allows you to use your bit with another set of reins attached to the noseband bitless rings as if it were a curb rein, making it easier to gradually reduce dependence on the bit. This setup is perfect for transitioning to bitless riding.
You can use both bit and bitless configurations at the same time, using double reins�an ideal option when training young horses or working through a transition period. Build trust, confidence, and clear communication without compromising on control.

A flash noseband has been omitted completely as we consider them to be inhumane and unnecessary. A horse that trusts his rider's hands will not open his mouth unless he's got a toothache or doesn't like the bit. To solve these problems one shouldn't tie the mouth shut but have the teeth checked,
