Barefoot Wellington - Treeless Dressage Saddle
The Barefoot Wellington is designed for riders seeking a secure, classical dressage seat while maintaining the flexibility and close contact of a treeless saddle. The deep seat with higher cantle and narrower twist provides excellent rider stability, helping the rider maintain an upright position during dressage work.
Like all Barefoot saddles, the Wellington features the 3-Layer VPS (Vertebrae Protection System), designed to distribute the rider's weight evenly across the saddle surface while maintaining spinal clearance for the horse. The flexible saddle construction allows the horse's back and shoulders to move freely without restriction.
The anatomically contoured flaps and supportive knee rolls help stabilize the rider's leg in a correct dressage position. The open stirrup attachment can be positioned individually under the seat using Velcro, allowing riders to fine-tune their leg position.

Rider Position Guide
Treeless saddles encourage a balanced seat because there is no rigid tree positioning the rider automatically. Riders transitioning from traditional treed saddles may notice that a treeless saddle feels different at first and may require a short adjustment period. Many riders find that the closer contact improves their feel for the horses movement.
- Wellington - Offers the deepest seat and most classical dressage rider position, providing excellent stability for riders who prefer strong leg support.
- Lexington - Promotes a balanced dressage posture with a supportive wedge seat design.
- London - More open seat allowing greater freedom of movement for riders who prefer a relaxed dressage feel.
Barefoot Saddle System
All Barefoot saddles work best as part of a saddle system with a suitable saddle pad and inserts. This helps distribute rider weight evenly and maintain spinal clearance for the horse.
"The Wellington 'settles' on her backs so well - it allows my leg to hang in a much more natural position for dressage. SUPER comfortable...Really couldn't believe it as I have ridden in most of the Barefoot saddles at one point or another. The Cheyenne had been my favorite until I hopped on this one!"
"...let me tell you.. this chestnut stallion [in the photo above] has a measured 15" back (where the saddle should actually sit) THIS saddle is the only saddle that sits me far enough forward to not sore him. I previously used the Cheyenne and it was fine, too.. but obviously not appropriate for the show and did not allow my leg to lie flat enough. As you know, MANY of my clients have now purchased the Wellington." - trainer, Jodi Tuft.
Thank you ladies for helping me with this amazing purchase!! I absolutely love it and feel so fancy and spoiled every time I ride! It fits her so well and she moves so nicely under it, truly my favorite saddle ever!! (And I have way too many!!) - Emma Vancour Damier

Saddle Trial Program
You can try the saddle for one week (7 days) after receiving the saddle to decide if its a good fit for you and your horse. Keep it clean, keep the tags. Ride in a controlled area, do not go on a trail ride. If you mark it up, scratch it, or damage it, you cannot return it. You cannot return a used saddle pad or girth/cinch. Use your own saddle pad to try the saddle if possible. If after one week you decide to return the saddle,
you will be charged a $150 restocking fee and you pay to ship the saddle back to us. If you would like to try a saddle for a week, Message us sales@barefootsaddlesusa.com
